Sorry. This one is posted a week late.

June 23, 2009

Hey! After I sent that message I realized I hadn’t answered your question but yes I got my insurance card and I live on the 4th floor but it’s really the 5th floor cause they don’t start counting until your up a floor here. So I’m pretty tired of stairs by now ha. Dad explained to me about that blog that sounds great! Oh and a letter takes about 10 days to get here but it seems to take longer for one to get to you. Also I didn’t write one cause I e-mailed you last week but I sent one today so it should be in the mail. So last night was our last night with our Brazilian roommates. It was really sad. They’re out in the field now. We all sang a couple hymns with them in the hall way last night it was really cool. Oh and here we don’t sing any hymns in English ... so sometimes it’s real bad ha, oh and you should look up the Brazilian national anthem! We sing it every Sunday ... its impossible to sing even with the words. And the melody is crazy like something you’d here at the fair. Ha but it’s pretty cool. But last night we said a last roommate prayer with them it was neat. We also only pray in Portuguese here too. and one of them rolled his ankle the other day pretty bad so he asked me to give him a blessing. That was pretty cool too. Me and like 10 other missionaries stood in it was powerful. And don’t worry I took lots of pictures with them. And one of them gave me and Elder Hadley Brazil soccer jerseys. I think they were from the Olympic team because it’s for the team of Brazil. But that was really cool. Tell Justin I’m way proud of him for the scripture mastery and the 4.0. Keep studying those scriptures cause its killing me not remembering references and stuff! This Saturday we have TRC which is where they bring in a Brazilian family and we have to teach the first discussion in all Portuguese! They record it so you re-watch it with a teacher. I'm so nervous but I’m sure it will go alright and in another week we go out street contacting where they give us Book of Mormons and just drop us off on a street and we have to give them out. Its nuts but I’m really excited for it! I hope dad is doing well in china! Speaking of July they said they celebrate the 4th of July here by serving American food!!! Yey, I can’t wait ha. Oh and another thing its not impolite to call ourselves Americans. I always thought it was cause there in America too. But no, they call us Americans as well. Well I've got to sign off but I love you guys so much and I wrote a really cool story in my letter so I hope it gets there soon! :)

Below is an excerpt from a letter Tim sent to his dad for Father’s Day. The personal portion of the letter was very sweet, but personal so it is excluded.

Hey dad!
I hope china is going well mom said that you may not get this until you get home but anyways I’ll start out by answering your questions. This Saturday we have TRC which is where they bring in a Brazilian family and we teach them in Portuguese. Its our first one and I’m pretty nervous but they video tape it so you can see how you did. there are a couple more of those well do throughout our time here and in a week we will go street contacting where they drop us off on a street with Book of Mormons and we have to give them out. So that should be interesting too. Ha, I’m really nervous but really excited too. a letter takes about 10 days to get here. I think it takes longer for one to get to you guys though. I had only sent that one but I sent another one today so well see how it goes. my Portuguese is still really broken but I can communicate somewhat. Its kinda tough cause we learn mainly gospel vocab first so I can pray, bear testimony and teach a lesson but its hard to just speak with people. I can understand a little more then I can speak but its starting to click a lot more than it was. And last week I realized that Fathers Day was Sunday but it was too late for me to get a letter or anything to you in time. so here’s your fathers day letter….

I cant wait to get to call you guys and talk about our missions. That will be a good day. I hope all is well with you and work. I love you so much and pray for you every night.
If you have any questions I love to answer them so keep them coming. I also sent an email to the mannderson email address that’s different so read it too. And the blog sounds great, thanks for doing that.

With much love your son,

elder anderson
