Dear Family,
The internet here is being extremely slow this week, so I don’t think the pic will send but I’ll try next week. I did get my package. I thought I had told you all last week but I guess not. Sorry. Yeah I got it. It’s pretty much all gone now but thanks so much. You have no idea how much a package means to a missionary. It’s like a little bit of America in a box and there is nothing better than that.
The girl we baptized is doing well. She walked an hour to the church to get confirmed because they didn’t have money for a bus so I was pretty impressed with that. The family is doing good, just that their dad is still drinking and smoking. We’re trying to help but his situation is a toughy.
We took a 17 year old girl to church last Sunday and she sat with this woman named Mary and loved church. We went by her house Sunday after church to see how she liked it and to give her a lesson and her mom said,” she isn’t here she is at church...” and we thought crap she went to another church. But turns out she was at choir practice. They invited her and she wanted to go. When we went there yesterday, she showed us her sheet music for her solo she will be singing and she was wearing a CTR ring. Ha! So we’re pretty excited about her. We marked her baptism for the 23rd. I hope all goes well. She really wants to. She watched the Joseph Smith video and cried. I hope her mom doesn’t interfere because that always happens with me!
We still have the sisters in our district. Sister Davenport is going home here with Weaver. She is from Washington too. She lives kinda by Doug, I think, over there close to Oregon. I’ll think about school (going back to BYUI in the fall) and pray about it but I think it would be good to go there ASAP. I am glad that I’m learning a new language. I only study in “Port” now. I like it a lot. I was thinking only in “Port” but now that I’m with Elder Vitelli, I have been speaking more English. It had been about 6 months that I was just with Brasilians. More than that actually. So my English was all messed up but it’s getting better. People tell me that I speak pretty good Port but I need to study more.
Today we helped a guy who was doing some test. I don’t know what it was but we went to a college and sat in a sound proof box and he recorded us saying some phrases in English and in Port. It was kinda cool. He bought us milk shakes after at least. Oh and yesterday we woke up at 5: 50am, to some loud noise in our room. It turned out to be a 6 inch moth attacking us. Elder Vitelli screams, “it’s a bird..” I ran and got the broom and after a 20 min battle, we killed that sucka! Then we couldn’t get back to sleep. It stunk but it was funny. I’ll try and send a card with Elder Weaver. (We asked Tim if he could send a memory card home with Elder Weaver with some pictures on it.) But, I gotta go.
Love you guys,
Elder Anderson
